WHY ASTURIAS?
You chose Asturias for good reason—stunning nature, affordable living, authentic Spanish culture, and a slower pace of life. But building a life here comes with unique challenges:
Language barriers (less English spoken than in big cities)
Bureaucracy (Spanish paperwork is... a journey)
Making local friends (Asturians are wonderful but can take time to warm up)
Finding your community (smaller expat population than Madrid or Barcelona)
That's exactly why we created Bloom Expats here. We know this region, two thirds of our team are expats and we're here to help you navigate it all while building the connections that will make Asturias feel like home.
Who We Are (and why we created this for expats like you)
We’re Celeste, Amy and Jorge — a small team of coaches, creatives, teachers and long-term expats who know exactly what it feels like to arrive in a beautiful new place… and still feel a little unrooted.
Between us, we’ve lived in Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Canada, the UK, France, and Spain.
Each of us knows firsthand what it’s like to:
start from zero,
build friendships from scratch,
navigate bureaucracy in a new language,
lose parts of your identity (and find new ones),
and slowly, gently, create a sense of home again.
Amy is a Social Worker, Educator, Communicator and fellow expat.
She has navigated several international moves and understands the emotional ups and downs of making a new place home — especially the part no one talks about: the transition inside yourself.
Celeste has been an expat in different countries for two thirds of her life. She is a Wellbeing and Creativity Coach, Educator and Facilitator. She knows what it’s like to rebuild identity, purpose and community in a new country — and she brings that experience into every coaching and creative session she leads.
And then there’s Jorge, Spanish, but also an expat twice over. He understands Spain deeply, but also knows what it means to arrive as an outsider. He bridges the gap between cultures in a way that feels grounding, human and real.
Bloom Expats was born from our own stories — the messy, hopeful, sometimes lonely process of building a life abroad. We’ve lived the challenges you’re facing now, and we’ve learned that the antidote to isolation is creativity, community and wellbeing. Not networking. Not “quick fixes.” Just real connection and meaningful experiences shared with people who understand.
Most importantly, we believe this: You don’t have to do any of this alone.
Asturias can become a real home — and we’d love to walk that path with you.
